Kompost Festival 2026
Join the Berlin Kompost Festival: across four summer days, we invite you to explore compost not simply as decomposition, but as a living practice of transformation, connection, and collective learning. Moving between ecology, science, art, philosophy, and grounded everyday practices, we will ask what it means to think from the perspective of soil, care, and decay.
Between raised garden beds, compost toilets, Bokashi buckets, community gardens, and hidden green spaces, temporary learning environments will emerge for observation, exchange, and experimentation with the living ground beneath us. Compost becomes both subject and method: a process that connects, dissolves, and recomposes.
Rather than offering fixed answers, the festival opens space for curiosity, attention, and new relationships between humans, soil, and the many more-than-human beings that inhabit it. What kinds of knowledge emerge through humification? What can compost teach us about living transformation? And what might it mean to reimagine Berlin through soil care and regeneration? The festival also offers opportunities to connect with fellow local dirt-aficionados - gardeners, artists, scientists, neighbours, and curious wanderers alike.
